The Amateur Geological Society was formed in 1965.

The Society has monthly meetings (second Tuesday of every month) with guest speakers and geological field trips in London, Hertfordshire and further afield. We also visit museums, hold an annual ‘Mineral, Gem and Fossil Show’, have a Members Evening (with members giving talks), offer free geology courses and even have competitions. In addition we have a newsletter six times a year and in 2015 celebrated our 50th anniversary.

Our new meeting place is Finchley Baptist Church opposite Stephens House in East End Road and the yearly subscription is only £15. Currently we have around 85 members and are looking to recruit more.

Secretary: Mrs. Julia Daniels, 25 Village Road, Finchley, London N3 1TL.
