Greenhill Parade, opposite the Barnet Everyman cinema, boasts a selection of excellent local shops and services. Along with Moore and Sons Butchers, Green Hill Greengrocers, Daniel Field Hairdressers, independent businesses include florist and gift shop, Floral and Hardy.
Firmly established after eight years in the parade, it’s interesting to hear how before opening the shop owner Joanne always had a passion for flowers, but found varieties available quite limited. She was given the opportunity to purchase a flower stall in London, which she did with her father, running it together for a number of years before outgrowing it and moving the business to New Barnet.
As well as offering a full range of floristry services, the shop also stocks a range of homeware and gifts including gorgeous hand made cards and artworks by Barnet based Julie Eve Designs. They even stock some beautiful freeze dried roses. What’s more if you’re browsing for flowers, you can select them from the glass storage cabinet which is a real feature of the shop. However, orders can be placed on their website either for delivery locally or nationwide.
With parking often easier around Greenhill Parade than up in Chipping Barnet, the shops attract loyal regular customers as you can pop from one to another and quickly sort out your shopping. They’re particularly handy in the run up to Christmas when you want to avoid alarmingly busy supermarkets – I’ll stroll down and maybe get a bus back up the hill if I’ve got heavy bags – and nothing beats friendly, well informed personal service.
