Googlies Jazz Supper Club
Googlies Jazz Supper Club hosts some of the country’s best jazz musicians and offers a optional freshly prepared two course meal with table service and a well stocked, reasonably priced bar in the intimate setting of Botany Bay cricket pavilion. Music at Googlies covers a wide range of styles including Mainstream, Bebop, West Coast, Latin etc with interpretations of many ‘standards’ and jazz classics. The bar will be open from 7pm. The Big Choir London is a community "no audition" fundraising choir. We raise money for Cancer Research, and have a lot of fun doing it. We're singing contemporary pop songs, anything from the 60's to modern day, we'll be trying a few show tunes and maybe even some gospel. Anything is possible! Come and join us.... We perform in local care homes and bring pleasure to so many people. We are based in Finchley Central at St Mary's Parish Hall, Hendon Lane and meet every Friday from 11.30am to 1.30pm. Barnet Choral Society performs works by CV Stanford, Richard Rodney Bennett and Dani Howard. Conducted by Rory McCleery, the choir is accompanied by Robert Davies, baritone, Adrian Bradbury, cello and Elizabeth Burgess, piano. Finchley’s choir and orchestra come together again to round off their seasons. The programme consists of two masterpieces by composers at the height of their powers. Beethoven’s seventh symphony pulsates with energy; Wagner described it as the “apotheosis of dance”. An oasis of calm is provided by the well-known Allegretto which begins with the same note 13 played times! The ‘Harmoniemesse’, so-called because its orchestra employs unusually large wind and brass forces, was Haydn’s last major work.
