Our summer concert showcases wonderful American orchestral works on a large scale. You’ll hear a sweeping tunes both famous and rare, and just great music! We have the theme from Jurassic Park to open and then Gershwin’s gloriously tuneful jazz-age piano concerto. We finish with Howard Hanson’s Symphony No. 2 (subtitled “Romantic”). The composer described it as “a work young in spirit, romantic in temperament and simple and direct in expression”. So some and see whether you agree! We’re definitely looking forward to playing this programme.
