Seasons greetings: has festive London looked lovelier?

Feeling demob happy, earlier in the week my daughter and I spent a few hours enjoying the Christmas lights.

We took the tube from High Barnet to Victoria to have lunch with a friend, then walked through Belgravia to Sloane Square, catching a bus up Sloane Street along Knightsbridge and Park Lane to Oxford Circus. Despite a bit of a drizzle, it was a pleasure being out in this unseasonably mild weather – and seeing so many decorations free of corporate sponsorship. Central London was looking stunning.

We took in Elizabeth Street with elegant chandelier street lights and stand out displays in Poilane and Philip Treacy (with some truly fab Grace Jones style sparkly bowler hats). Further along our route I didn’t manage any pictures of the glamorous peacock tail lights in Bond Street, but have included some glittery brussels sprouts in John Lewis.

Best wishes for Christmas and the festive season.
