“Each month we hold a friendly indoor meeting to discuss local cycling issues. We also look at specific aspects of cycling with a speaker, video or a practical demonstration on cycle maintenance. We can give you help and advice on bikes and cycling. Meetings are on the last Thursday of each month at 8pm in the Carey Hall of Trinity Church Centre, 15 Nether St. North Finchley N12 7NN, a short way down Nether Street from Tally Ho.
We run a programme of rides for the average cyclist who wants to enjoy the peace of the countryside, good food and a relaxed social atmosphere. All day rides are held on the third Sunday of every month – more in summer! You can ride in a group at an easy pace with a leader to show the way, and stop for lunch at a pub or café. And you can be sure you won’t be left behind. Usual start is from North Finchley at 10am. Evening rides too, in the summer.”

“The club was originally founded in 1940 to provide cricket for the former pupils of Queen Elizabeth’s Boys School in Barnet, but we have been an open club for many years, and welcome members from across the Barnet area and beyond.

History
The earliest recorded report of cricket being played on the Common appeared in the Barnet Press and it referred to a game against the Privy Council Office CC on June 14th 1862. It is however probably that cricket was played on the Common earlier than this as the novelist, Anthony Trollop (1815-1882), in his novel “The Bertrams”, which was set in the 1840s made a reference to Cricket on the Common. His mother lived in Hadley and it is therefore quite likely that he drew on real life for inspiration.
The present Monken Hadley Cricket Club, which has its pitch on the grassland at the western end of the Common, was reformed in 1954 and has played continuously since that time.”

“The First XV currently plays in London League North West Three and other Senior sides play in their respective Hertfordshire-Middlesex Merit Tables. The Club also has a very strong and active Mini and Junior section from under 7’s to under 17’s involving over 350 children and youths.
