“Most of our members live in the Borough of Enfield, the northern half of Barnet Borough, and South Herts around Potters Bar, Northaw & Cuffley, but you are very welcome to join us wherever you live. Our group was founded in 1972 by keen local walkers, and has offered a full programme of walks led by experienced leaders to successive generations for over 40 years. We share a love of walking and the countryside.

If you would like to join us, you become a member of Ramblers national organisation. They will assign you to our group if you live in our patch (EN1 to EN6, N9, N11 to N14, N18, N20, or N21) or, if you live elsewhere, you can specify our group when you join. If you are already a member of another Group, you can ask to be added to our mailing list to receive our Newsletter & full Walks Programme. Come along and try a couple of walks first.

As well as organising a full programme of walks and social activities, members of our group help to check out local footpaths and work to safeguard the footpath network.”

“The Lyonsdown Club was founded in mid 1895 and is the oldest Snooker & Billiards club in the UK and the World. This small but exclusive club has been continually active since its opening.

The Lyonsdown Club is in New Barnet, Hertfordshire and was originally a stable, the premises formerly being part of Oakwood House Estate.

Without question, we have to say that our club and members are deeply indebted to past members who did so much to forge the development and structure of the club.

Currently, the Lyonsdown Club is in a very healthy position. The Club works very hard to keep an even balance of membership and availability of table time. With this in mind, the membership is monitored regularly by the Management Committee.

First and foremost, to be a member of the Lyonsdown Club, you have to have an interest in snooker or billiards, and play the game. We do not wish to allow membership to anyone who has no interest in the game.”

“We originate as a WWII Home Guard unit but on 1st May 1945 it became the East Barnet Home Guard (1944) RifleClub, then on 23rd April 1956, it became the East Barnet Rifle and Revolver Club, later changing it’s name on 14th February 1964 to what we are known as today the East Barnet Shooting Club.

Our main clubhouse is in the north of the London Borough of Barnet, on the outskirts of North London adjoining Hertfordshire. But we also have a Clay Pigeon field just off the A1 road, near Borehamwood, Hertfordshire.”

We always have a minimum of 3 tables available for practice bookings.

Social Table Tennis sessions are for people of all ages and playing standards. They tend to be less competitve than match play and many of the attendees prefer to play doubles rather than singles. An afternoon session is held on Wednesdays between 2.00 pm and 4.00 pm. Fees are £3 for members and £5 for non-members. No pre-booking is necessary, just turn up and play.”

“Welcome to Memory Lane Singing Club, Finchley Central, North London.

Memory Lane Singing Club is under the musical direction of Linda Perillo an experienced professional singer, who joined the Club in 2008. She also runs several other groups in North London. The Club is thriving and continues to improve with Linda’s expert guidance and encouragement.

Linda says, “This has been another great year in terms of musical progress and the shows were, in my opinion, some of the best ever. The spirit, energy and joie de vivre of the members of this unique Club makes working with them so fulfilling.

It is not often that a professional can feel as useful a member of the community as I do, helping to bring the joy of music where it is so badly needed”.
